Jacob’s been hitting the practice space lately, recording cover versions of some of his favorite power-pop tunes.

All the goodness is available for listen and download here:

www.soundcloud.com/sickvista

These tunes were all recorded in the SHiPS practice space. All of the tracks are single takes, and there is absolutely no modification done to the tones. No EQ. No plug-ins. No nothing. Not a thing was done on the computer other than pressing the “record” button. Please enjoy!

SHiPS live on KEXP

This coming Saturday, September 29th, SHiPS will be performing live on KEXP’s Audioasis local music show.

The set will feature two exclusive, unreleased songs, and two from the LP Compulsory Listening, which is available for free download on this site.

We are readying ourselves to begin tracking our second LP. Gonna set fire to these tunes, watch them burn, and then build them back up, brick-by-beautiful-brick.

In the immortal words of The Replacements: “Can’t Hardly Wait”

We are stoked to be a part of this event at the Columbia City Theater on Friday, February 10th. We’ll be playing after Portland songwriter/piano whiz Bryan Free and before nouveau soulsters Drew Grow & The Pastor’s Wives.

The very next night, Tope, Hobosexual and Kelli Schaefer close out the Amigo/Amiga Records Weekend.

Tickets are available here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/218955

If you buy tickets for both nights, you get a steal of a deal ($16 for both nights; a 20% discount).

Ships is pleased to take the stage tonight with local garage heroes Wimps and MK Speed Dial. Tonight celebrates the release of MK’s EP, and also lament’s their inevitable doom as this will be their last show.

Doors at 10, show to follow. 5 bucks.
